Aura to host its first arts competition
Aura, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s literary arts magazine, is proud to announce its first annual art competition. The Aura Art Competition invites high school and college students in Jefferson County to electronically submit their art in three categories: fine arts, digital media, and photography. There is no theme, so all subject matters are welcome as long as they fit in the aforementioned mediums.
Two winners will be selected in each of the categories; one in the high school category and one for college level. Each winner will receive a prize as well as the opportunity to have their work published in Aura’s 2016 fall edition. Students will also receive an opportunity to display their work at the Birmingham Division of Youth Services Smart Art festival in April, 2017.
Competition Submission Guidelines:
- All submissions are due by October 1st, 2016.
- No previously published work is eligible submission. It must be original content.
- Please do not submit simultaneous submissions. If your work has been submitted to another publication, do not send that work in unless it has been denied by that publication.
- Acover letter should be attached with each submission with the following information included: contact information, short biography of 3-5 sentences (will be featured alongside your work should it be chosen), indication of whether or not you give Aura permission to feature work on Aura websites. You can create your own or use our template.
- Multiple entries are allowed. You may submit as many pieces as you wish.
- All submissions should be submitted as a jpg and preferably with at least 300 pixels per inch (resolution). If you have questions about this, email us ataura@insideuab.com. We can walk you through this or work with you!
