UAB Information Technology has a number of tips to help keep your accounts and passwords secure.

If you are contacted by someone claiming to represent UAB, it is important to remember:

  • UAB will never request your password via phone, email, or social media.
  • UAB will never request an account payment by phone.

If you are ever suspicious about the validity of someone requesting money or personal information (such as your social security number), do not supply the information. Instead, contact their office directly using their Campus Directory listing (not using contact info the suspicious party supplies to you).

Telephone scams should be reported via the UAB Police Department's non-emergency line at 205-934-4434.

UAB IT is also a good resource for information on phishing scams, malware, hacking attempts, identity theft, and other digital security issues.
