A single color communicates meaning almost instantaneously, and color is a key factor in brand recognition. Color defines us, unifies us, rallies us.
The official university colors are green and white, with gold traditionally used as an accent color. Acceptable shades of green and gold and other accents are included below.

Core Digital Palette
When designing for print, use either PMS or CMYK formats. When designing for digital, use RGB or HEX formats. These color breakdowns have been calibrated for the best output on their individual platforms. This palette is intended for digital use only.
Digital Accessibility
When using colors online, there must be sufficient contrast between the foreground (text/graphic color) and background. When the color contrast is too low, members of your audience may have difficulty reading your material. It is essential to choose the right color combination at the start of your project to prevent the need to make changes in its final stages.
In order to meet accessibility standards, your background-to-text contrast ratio should be at least 4.5:1. We have provided color breakdowns below to help you identify accessible combinations using UAB's core digital color palatte.
Depending on the size of your text, some color combinations are allowable with large text but not with smaller text (see sidebar for guidance on text size). For example, if you want to use a Campus Green background, you can use black text at any size, but Dragon's Lair Green can only be used with large text.
Regular Text
Regular text is defined as text 23px regular or smaller.
Large Text
Regular text is defined as text 18.66px bold or larger, or 24px regular or larger

For Print Use Only
Core Print Palette
When designing for print, use either PMS or CMYK formats. Use the CMYK values presented here instead of Pantone’s recommended CMYK formulas to match the PMS colors in these palettes. Pantone’s formulas have changed and no longer accurately reflect UAB’s official colors. As software programs upgrade to Pantone’s new specifications, be sure to create the correct CMYK formulas within your files. Do not rely upon the programs’ automatic conversion from spot color to process color. This palette is intended for print use only.
Print Accessibility
