Diane Pevsner graduated with a B.S. degree in 1988 from Judson College. She entered UAB School of Education and Human Sciences in 1994 and completed her Masters degree in 1995. In 2001 Diane received her National Teacher Certification in Exceptional Needs and the Outstanding Teacher award for the Regional School for the Deaf and Blind. In 2002, Diane received an additional teacher certification in visual impairments and she is completed her certification in Orientation and Mobility in 2005. She completed her PhD in Educational Leadership at UAB in 2010. Diane has worked as a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional in Developmental Centers and as a Program Director for Bethphage Group Homes. She then moved into the classroom where she taught children with high and low incidence disabilities as well as visual impairments for 11 years. She began her career at UAB in 1998 as a program coordinator in the Education and Outreach Module of the Vision Science Research Center where she assisted with grant writing and reporting activities. In August of 2008, She became adjunct faculty in the School of Education and Human Sciences and in August of 2009, she accepted a non-tenure track assistant professor appointment in the Collaborative Teacher program and served as the Program Coordinator. While in the faculty position Diane updated the program by developing several courses for online format utilizing Blackboard and Blackboard Learn. As well as teaching in the Collaborative Teacher program, she was appointed as the Program Director for the Orientation and Mobility Program in UAB’s School of Optometry during October of 2011. |
