school of public health buildingIn an increasingly complex healthcare policy environment, a need exists for trained professionals competent in both general public management and in healthcare policy. Likewise, the need for public health experts with management education and experience are vital to public health agencies. The MPA/MPH degree offers students a chance to earn two master’s degrees in the fields of public administration and public health to fill these type jobs.

Program Requirements

Students are required to complete a total of 60-64 semester hours for the coordinated degree (includes 3-6 hours of internship). Students complete 30 hours from the MPA program and 30-34 hours from the MPH program.  Full-time students should be able to complete all degree requirements within three years.

Program Admission

Students must apply and be admitted to the MPA and MPH programs separately. The requirements for each degree must be met before either degree is awarded and close communication with both programs is required. Depending on prior experience, a field placement in the form of an internship may be required.
