Engaging new members in the centers creates a vibrant community of scientists working in the field where new ideas can be explored, connections to services and resources are made, and our scientific vision is realized.

The center has three membership categories:

CFAR Investigator

Faculty members at UAB who have received independent NIH funding in HIV research that appears on the NIH Funded Research Base currently or in the recent past. A UAB Secondary appointment will be created, and a membership letter provided.

CFAR Member

Faculty members and trainees at UAB or other CFAR partners (e.g., UA Tuscaloosa, Xavier University, Tuskegee University, Lawson State Community College, Magic City Research Institute, Addiction Prevention Coalition) who are interested in/engaged with HIV research and may be eligible to receive CFAR resources. A membership letter is provided.

Affiliate CFAR member

Collaborators from academic institutions, community-based organizations, or other organizations/institutions who are engaged in HIV research with CFAR investigators or members. A membership letter is provided.

If you are unsure about your category, please submit a request for membership and we will reach out to you.

In addition, if you would like to receive announcements about CFAR events, you can join our listserv.
