Applications are now open for the Health Services Foundation General Endowment Fund grants, which offer financial support for projects within UAB demonstrating multidisciplinary effort and intentions to strengthen infrastructure in four key areas: clinical care, medical education, laboratory research and patient-oriented research.
Since its beginnings in 1996, the GEF has awarded more than $61.5 million for 286 projects.
Any UAB faculty member can apply for the grant funding, with the approval of their department chair within UAB Medicine. If the principal investigator does not hold a primary appointment in a department within UAB Medicine, a co-investigator who is a member of a department within the academic medical center must be included in the proposal. In addition, the co-investigator's department chairman must indicate their approval of the proposal on the application.
An online application packet and full application guidelines can be downloaded here.
Deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 21. Submissions should be sent in one PDF document to Beth Thompson in the School of Medicine Dean’s Office via email at aethompson@uab.edu. GEF funding decision will be released on Oct. 26, with the funding available on Nov. 1.
