I am passionate about...Food, Science, Atlanta Braves!
I am interested in (affiliated student organizations/groups on campus)...Pre-med Society at UAB
I chose UAB because...During my junior year of high school, when I was doing all my college tours, I was not sure where I wanted to go. All I knew was that I was going to be pre-med and hopefully get into medical school. While I had no real intention of going out-of-state, since I'm from Georgia, I did not really consider any out-of-state schools. But, my mom suggested that I at least apply to UAB since my grandfather went to UAB's medical school in the 70s. UAB was the last school I applied to, and the first one to accept me. After going on a tour I knew it was right for me. The TrailBlazers were so welcoming and informative, and really made UAB feel like home. The opportunities UAB has to offer pre-health students as early as freshman year were very unique and was a big reason for why I chose to go here.
Best thing you've ate in Birmingham? My favorite guilty pleasure food in Birmingham is at the restaurant IKKO. I love ramen, and they load you up with a bunch of toppings and have fancy broth. Definitely a restaurant I recommend checking out if your at five points.
Biggest college/adult related fear you have overcome at UAB?Coming to school as a STEM major really scared me as I did not know whether or not I was going to be able to succeed. Especially since I was not the most studious student in high school, I was worried I would not be able to handle it. But, once you get into the swing of things everything gets easier. What helped me overcome this was having an online calendar to help keep me on track for all of my classes. And surrounding myself with people I admired and I knew would push me to be the best student I could be.
