Virtual Closing Reception, Thursday, April 29, 6-7 p.m.
The five graduating University of Alabama at Birmingham students will have their works featured in a Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition April 19 - May 1, with a free virtual closing reception from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, April 29.
“The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is a professional degree that focuses on intensive studio and scholarly work in the visual arts supported by a rigorous program of liberal arts education," says department chair, Rich Gere, MFA. “Students in the Department of Art and Art History present the BFA Exhibition that showcases their skills, concepts, and intellects. They have come through a tremendously difficult year with grit and determination to create and share their visions. We celebrate their talents and look forward to following their successes in the future.”
The Department of Art and Art History’s Bachelor of Fine Arts degree offers students an intensive exploration across a breadth of media and within a depth of discipline that allows the undergraduate student to prepare to be an artist or designer, to begin a career in the arts, or to continue his or her studies in graduate school. Students gain skills and competencies including team-based learning, technology, communication, aesthetic judgment, interdisciplinary and innovative approaches, critical analysis, and professional development throughout their program of study.
The artists are: Cicely Hill, Elena Mangroband, Caroline Myers, Rosalia V. Reyes, and Molly Sinclair.
