When to Report
- You observe a marked change in a student’s academic performance
- You observe a noticeable decline in personal hygiene
- A student repeatedly engages in disruptive behaviors and usual classroom management intervention does not work to extinguish behaviors
- When there is a genuine concern about the well-being of any student
- When assisting a student with personal problems is beyond the role of a faculty/staff member
What to Report
- Be familiar with the Student Conduct Code.
- Report any prohibited conduct (including threats or perceived threats) to the UAB Police Department.
- Report any prohibited conduct (including threats or perceived threats) to the Assistant Vice President for Student Life and/or the UAB Police Department.
- When there is a genuine concern about the well-being of any student
- When assisting a student with personal problems is beyond the role of a faculty/staff member
Note: Any report of violence or threats of violence will be handled in a confidential manner with information released only on a need-to-know basis.

What Happens Next
Each CARE Team report is reviewed promptly by The Office of Student Assistance & Support. The CARE Team receives and discusses the information. The Team will determine an action plan and how to best support the student, as well as work with the reporting party.
