The Ada Long Creative Writing Workshop and its students depend on the support of contributors like you. Since its inception, the workshop has been committed to providing financial assistance to students who find the fee cost prohibitive. This commitment assures that students from different communities and backgrounds are able to contribute to the workshop experience — an essential aspect of the workshop for everyone who participates.

Since most of the workshop alumni apply to UAB and many enroll, your gift enables high school students to see UAB as their future. Thus, your gift not only supports our students but also UAB and our community.

You can support the workshop in two ways:

• Contribute the Jimmie Hess Scholarship Fund. Created in memory of Jimmie Hess who supported the workshop by providing scholarships every year, this fund honors her on-going commitment. For every $800 contributed to this fund, one student with financial need attends the workshop free of charge.
• Contribute to the Ada Long Creative Writing Workshop Endowment. Used to fund day-to-day programming needs such as field trips, guest speakers, student supplies, and more, a gift to this account will enables the Workshop to continue and enhance our programming each year.
