Studying a language can prepare you for a range of pathways and careers. Many of our alumni have continued their studies at some of the highest ranked universities in the U.S.—including Ohio State and Yale—and others now have successful careers in professional fields including health, government, business, and education. We are proud to see our alumni teaching in K-12 and college classrooms, serving as foreign ministers, and even pursuing careers as doctors and dentists.
Take a moment to hear from Kierstin Cates Kennedy, M.D., alumna and UAB Medicine Chief Medical Officer, as she reflects on her experience in the department with Lourdes Sánchez-López, Ph.D., professor of Spanish.
We would like you to share your story with us, with our students, and the world. Let us know if you have a story to tell, or just keep us updated about your career, by filling out the Update Your Information form. Do you want to become involved in the department? We welcome your ideas and participation. Or perhaps you would like to know how to donate to the department and help support our mission—regardless of the step you take, we hope you will stay involved with world languages at UAB!
