PhD. 2021 Career: Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine

After high school, I attended the International University of Grand Bassam (IUGB) in Ivory Coast, which follows an American-style college system, for two years before transferring to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) following a new partnership with IUGB. Initially I was majoring in Mathematics with a concentration in actuarial science at IUGB but chose to focus solely on Mathematics at UAB due to my passion for the subject. My experience at UAB was transformative, largely thanks to Dr. Mubenga Nkashama, who helped me adapt to the US education system, and Dr. Carmeliza Navasca, my PhD advisor, whose continued mentorship has been invaluable. I really enjoyed my time in the department with Friday teas, the lovely atmosphere, the coursework, and the faculty and students. These made Birmingham feel like my US hometown, and I really appreciate the guidance and support I received.
