Ph.D. 2004 Career: J. L. Doob Research Assistant Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Research Assistant Professor, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology; Assistant Professor, Sogang University, Seoul, South Korea
Advisor: Yulia Karpeshina
I had a really great time at UAB. I can say Birmingham is my hometown in the U.S. Thanks to the warm and lovely atmosphere in the department, I am eager to visit UAB as often as possible, and whenever I visit there I feel like I come back to my home. The department has many great conventions, for example, Friday teas, party-after-defense hosted by advisors, and so on. The professors in the department teach students very enthusiastically and take care of their students like their own kids. They consider their students' future together and support students very firmly. Therefore, when students get good things like a new job, they are very happy and proud of their students and when students get in a trouble, they find a way out together, like their own mom or dad. I never hesitated to discuss things with my advisor, Professor Karpeshina, and she always gave me good and helpful feedback. I highly appreciate all she has done for me.
