Birmingham Neighborhood Studies explores the visual and material culture, history, and urban development of four Birmingham neighborhoods in transition. It emphasizes community engagement through active study of Birmingham’s historic neighborhoods.

Professors Stacy Moak (Department of Social Work), Pamela King (Department of History), and Jessica Dallow (Department of Art and Art History) led a group of students this semester and held an opening reception on November 14 in Project Space (Humanities Building Room 100). Students had an opportunity to explain what they did and what they learned through their projects at the reception. Birmingham Neighborhood Studies provided an opportunity for professors and students from different disciplines to work together and learn from each other and about Birmingham.

The course will be offered again in Fall 2018. For more information, please contact Dr. Stacy Moak (stacym@uab.edu).
