The Department of Philosophy will host the latest of their Big Idea series and The Great Debate in November.

The Big Idea lecture by Dr. Jason Gray, titled "Will Computers Decide to Kill Us?", will be held Nov. 12 at 5:00 p.m. in the Hulsey Recital Hall.

Big Idea lectures introduce a topic of general interest and share a philosophical perspective on the matter. After a brief 15-minute presentation on the topic, the speaker fields questions from the audience.

The Great Debate event, featuring Dr. Matt King and Dr. Kevin McCain debating the question "Is Believing in God Rational?", will be held Nov. 17 at 5:00 p.m. in Volker Hall Lecture Room A.

In The Great Debate, two faculty members or invited guests take up opposing sides on an important and controversial question of human existence. The audience is invited to share their take on the issue in the Q&A.

Both events are free and open to the public.
