Dr. James McClintock, Endowed Professor of Polar and Marine Biology, has been named the 2015 recipient of the Odessa Woolfolk Community Service Award.

McClintock has dedicated nearly 30 years to educational outreach.  He uses his lifetime of research in Antarctica to educate students and the public about the value and excitement of a career in science. 

For his extensive education outreach, McClintock was awarded the 2008 Live the Dream award, the highest honor awarded by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. 

In addition to these community service awards, Dr. McClintock has received numerous previous awards including the UAB Ellen Gregg Ingalls Award for Excellence in Teaching, the UAB Caroline P. and Charles W. Ireland Prize for Outstanding Scholarship, and the Wright A. Gardner Award for most outstanding scientist in Alabama.
