Von E. Nebbitt, Ph.D., presented "Context matters: Research and preventive intervention strategies among African American youth living in urban public housing" on Sept. 18 in the Blazer Hall Residence Life Center. The UAB Department of Social Work and the African American Studies Program sponsored the lecture.
Nebbitt is an associate professor at the Jane Addams College of Social Work, University of Illinois at Chicago. His research and community practice focus on exposure to community and domestic violence and neighborhood-level risk factors, as well as the health behaviors and mental health symptoms of African American youth in public housing.
