The International Clarinet Association has selected the University of Alabama at Birmingham to host one of three regional festivals Saturday, Feb. 21-Sunday, Feb. 22, in conjunction with the 13th annual UAB Clarinet Symposium.

The UAB Department of Music and Associate Professor of Clarinet Denise Gainey, DMA, will present the ICA Southeastern Festival. Clarinetists of all ages and abilities are invited to gather for a weekend of workshops, master classes, clarinet choirs, recitals and clinics by some of the nation’s finest clarinetists. A free recital with the festival and Blazer clarinet choirs is set for 1:30 p.m. in UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, 1200 10th Ave. South. The recital is open to the public.
