The Department of History welcomes a new faculty member in January 2016. Stella Ghervas will be joining us as an assistant professor starting in the Spring semester.
Dr. Ghervas comes to us from Durham University in England, where she was a Visiting Fellow in Durham Law School and Honorary Visiting Fellow in the History Department. Her research interests include along with the history of Russia and Southeastern Europe.
She is the author of Réinventer la tradition. Alexandre Stourdza et l’Europe de la Sainte-Alliance (Reinventing tradition: Alexander Stourdza and Europe of the Holy Alliance), published by Honoré Champion in Paris in 2008. It is a broad depiction of a crucial era when the Great Powers laid the foundations of the Concert of Europe that was to dominate much of European international politics during the 19th century, and whose effects are felt to this day.
Her book Conquering Peace: From the Enlightenment to the European Union is under contract with Harvard University Press.
Welcome Dr. Ghervas!
