Umair Khan, ‘09 and Matt Powell, ‘12 are both employed at Luckie and Company. Khan is a senior designer and Powell is a designer.

Laurin Humphries, ‘13, is the proprietor of Humphries Screen Print.

Celestia Morgan, ‘13, is pursuing her MFA in the Photography Program at the University of Alabama. She was selected to represent the State of Alabama in the “State of the Art” exhibition.

Mary Margaret Morgan, ‘15 is pursuing her MFA in the Printmaking Program at the University of Oregon.

Tiffany Chapman Lee, ‘12 is a part of the inaugural class at Auburn Universities Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM).

Maria A. Hernandez, ‘12 serves as a current Navy Reservist Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class, while in graduate school at UAB getting her masters in both Public Health and Public Administration.

Fred Haberle, ‘85 has been inducted into the Quarter Century Club for the Boston Marathon, which requires 25 consecutive completions of the marathon.

Eric J. Rzeszut, ‘02 wrote his first book entitled, “10 Don’ts On Your Digital Devices: The Non-Techie’s Survival Guide to Cyber Security and Privacy.”

Joy Barr, ‘ 07 (additional major in History) is the social media manager for the famous Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, CA.

Valerie Hein Hunter, ‘09 is a member of The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 Trial Lawyers and was recognized by the Global Directory of Who’s Who Among Women Attorneys. She received a personal distinction as one of the 10 Best for Client Satisfaction in Criminal Defense among attorneys in the State of North Carolina.

Steve Headley, ‘99 is retired from the US Army after 28 years of service.

Capt. Colby Helton, ‘12 was recently promoted to Captain in the US Army, and is currently stationed in Germany. He and his wife, fellow alum Cheere Ramos Helton (History, ’12), are expecting their third child in August.

Eunhae Bae, ‘08 currently works for the FDA as a Research Fellow and is attending George Washington University working on her master’s in Public Health.

Blake Ewing, ‘04 has written musical scores for television, film and advertising campaigns across the nation including, but not limited to National Geographic, CNBC, Starz, Bravo, TLC, Fox Sports, USA and Lifetime.

Anita Saxena, ’06 graduated from UAB Optometry School in 2009 and has a thriving optometry practice in Pelham.

Dr. Jason Lott, ‘02 (additional major in Mathematics), finished his dermatology fellowship at Yale and is head of dermatology for Bayer International.

Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green,‘09, ‘12 is an assistant professor at Tuskegee University; one of fewer than 100 black female physicists in the country. She recently won a $1.1 million grant to develop a cancer treatment involving lasers and nanoparticles.

Amanda Spraggins Brown, ‘10 is an Emergency Department Social Worker at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.


SOCIOLOGYsociology class notes

Dr. Leigh A. Willis, ‘00 won one of two awards from the CDC for Best Engagement Strategy 2014 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Game Jam.


THEATREtheatre class notes

Andrea Frankle, ‘98 is one of the stars of the WGN series “Underground” airing Wednesday nights at 9:00 p.m. (CST)

Britt (Brittany) Rentschler, ‘06 will be appearing in Episodes 8 and 9 of the TBS series “The Detour” airing April 11.

Christopher Reeves, ‘02 was recently named Teacher of the Year by the Jefferson County School System in Alabama. Chris is a Physical Education teacher at Warrior Elementary School.
