Senior John Wesley Chancellor has been selected for the Peace Corps and will teach high school science topics in Mozambique for 27 months.

John has been accepted to medical school but will be deferring and re-applying on his return. John is a member of the University Honors Program in the UAB Honors College and is a participant in the undergraduate neuroscience program. He will graduate summa cum laude, with a perfect 4.0 GPA, this April with a B.S. in neuroscience and minors in psychology, chemistry, and Spanish.

John has been a multi-year USGA Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences, held prominent leadership positions in the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and the UAB Student Alumni Society. He was an Orientation Leader and a UAB Ambassador and was selected as Mr. UAB. He served as District Treasurer for Circle K International and was a long-serving ACT tutor with the Birmingham Education Foundation at Woodlawn High School.
