UAB biologists Dr. Chuck Amsler and Maggie Amsler are cheering on the UAB men's basketball team in the Conference USA tournament today all the way from Antarctica.

The Amslers, along with colleagues and graduate students from the Department of Biology, regularly travel to Palmer Station, one of three U.S. permanent research facilities in Antarctica that are maintained by the National Science Foundation. 

While out on a boat trip to collect algae for their research, they put Blazers T-shirts over their diving drysuits and sent a photo back to Birmingham. 

The Amslers will be following the game against Western Kentucky today via the Internet.
