Austin RobinsonAustin Robinson, a high school senior student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, won the Mu Alpha Theta Award for “the most challenging, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving mathematics accessible to high school students” at the Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair.

Austin is being mentored by Prof. Nitesh Saxena since Fall 2011, and has been working on a research project entitled “Playful Security: Exploring Mental Arithmetic for Secure Device Pairing”. The project aims at improving the security and usability of device pairing by means of a simple mental arithmetic game.
