Austin is being mentored by Prof. Nitesh Saxena since Fall 2011, and has been working on a research project entitled “Playful Security: Exploring Mental Arithmetic for Secure Device Pairing”. The project aims at improving the security and usability of device pairing by means of a simple mental arithmetic game.

Austin Robinson, a high school senior student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, won the Mu Alpha Theta Award for “the most challenging, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving mathematics accessible to high school students” at the Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
