Anthony & Barbara Barnard Endowed Support Fund
Dr. Anthony Barnard, CIS professor provided a generous financial gift that made this award possible. Award amount is 2,500 total per academic year.
- Applicants must be CIS majors at the time of application.
- Applicants must be freshman (first-time or transfer) at the time of application.
- Applicants must compose a one page essay that highlights his/her academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, community service, and state why he/she desires the award.

The Internet Identity Scholars Program will allow the Computer Forensic program to recruit nationally four (4) freshman students to attend UAB. Each student will receive $5,000 to fund college expenses and must be enrolled in Criminal Justice or Computer Information Sciences. These students will be known as the “Internet Identity Scholars”.

The Joseph M. Fontana Endowed Scholarship was created in 1996 by Dr. Jeanne M. Hutchison in honor of her late husband, Joseph Fontana. This award recognizes outstanding students in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. Two recipients are awarded on an annual basis.

In 2006, The Joyce Iannuzzi Endowed Scholarship for Computer Science and Technology reached the endowed scholarship level. This scholarship was given to UAB by Foundry Networks, Inc. along with family and friends in memory of Joyce W. Iannuzzi – a long time employee of UAB. In 2007, the Iannuzzi’s and family and friends of Joyce’s continued to give funds to the scholarship allowing it to be funded at the Endowed Presidential Level.

Awards are $1,000 and are made initially for one academic year and may be renewed for an additional academic year for a total award of 24 months (2 years) of support. Must be a U.S. citizen, undergraduate student (Jr./Sr. level), enrolled full-time in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at an Alabama Space Grant member university pursing any space-related field of study. Awardees are required to submit a final report to the Consortium Program Office at the end of their award period. The report should consist of information on the aerospace-related research being conducted on, or around, their campus of interest to the student. As an alternative to the researcher interviews, students may participate in an Outreach Activity under the guidance of the Campus Director and can submit a brief report outlining which Outreach Activity was participated in.
