In Southeast Regional competition in Tampa, FL, UAB's Ethics Bowl Team won one of four coveted spots to advance to the National Championship Round of 32 teams from 10 national regions in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, Feb.22nd in Costa Mesa, CA.

UAB advanced Saturday with the US Naval Academy and two other teams.

In 2010, UAB won this championship and it hopes to repeat in California. The team is composed of three freshmen: Clara Wan and Lakshmi Subramani, both of Huntsville, and Joanne Jacob of Atlanta; plus two sophomores: Aashka Patel of Vestavia and Kevin Yang of Hoover. Yang made the final round of the Teen Tournament in 2012 of "Jeopardy" and chose UAB partly because of its Ethics Bowl Team, which is coached by Dr. Gregory Pence in the Philosophy Department.

Congratulations to the team!
