The Scientific Review Panel of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings has selected Jeffrey Montgomery, a doctoral student in physics, to participate in the 62nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting that will be held from July 1 to July 6, 2012, in Lindau, Germany. Only 550 young researchers from around the world were selected for this unique honor to exchange ideas, discuss projects and build international networks. 

The Lindau Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine and in Physics have been held since 1951 with this year’s Meeting being dedicated to Physics and more than 25 Nobel Laureates in physics and chemistry in attendance. Every year, between 20 and 25 Nobel Laureates spend a week in the Lake Constance area meeting young international scientists of tomorrow. The special character of the Lindau Meetings is shaped by the fact that the Nobel Laureates can freely choose the topics of their lectures which range from retrospective to current cutting-edge, prospective to blue-sky. The Laureates hold these lectures in the mornings during the conference. The afternoons are reserved for discussions between themselves and the young scientists. During other events on the social program and on the joint trip to the Isle of Mainau, the Laureates willingly talk about their own work and current scientific topics. 

Jeff is a third-year doctoral student in physics working in the high pressure physics group of Professor Yogesh Vohra.
