UAB Department of Art and Art History Partners with Sloss Furnaces and 2017 National Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art & Practices, April 5-8
Eleven students will attend the conference, with registration paid by donors. Exhibitions by student and professional artists are planned at Sloss and around Birmingham, including UAB’s Project Space.

Alex Dawson Receives UWA’s Undergraduate Research Symposium Dean’s Award
Biology major Alex Dawson, a junior in Dr. Shahid Mukhtar’s lab, received the Dean’s Award for a poster he presented at the University of West Alabama’s 6th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in March 2017. Dawson was one of more than 40 undergraduate students to present a research project at the regional symposium.
