The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), in partnership with The Ohio State University, the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, and community partners, is proud to host the 3rd annual Listening, Engaging, and Acting to Reduce Neighborhood Disparities (LEARN'd) Health Equity Conference on September 30-October 1, 2024.
This year’s theme, “Collaborative Approaches for Cross-Cutting Solutions, Innovation, and Sustainability,” positions the conference as a national platform for addressing pressing health disparities and accelerating equitable healthcare solutions.
Why Attend?
The LEARN'd Conference brings together thought leaders, policy makers, healthcare professionals, community advocates, and industry representatives for a two-day experience focused on collaborative approaches to addressing health equity gaps. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with national experts, share best practices, and develop actionable strategies to tackle health disparities in real time.
Be ready to be inspired and uplifted as we kick off our conference with a keynote program led by award-winning documentarian, journalist, speaker, author, and philanthropist, Soledad O'Brien. Her impactful work and commitment to amplifying diverse voices will set the tone for meaningful discussions throughout the event.
Clifford Kennon, CCTS Engagement of Communities Program Director notes, “The LEARN’d Conference is more than just a gathering of experts—it’s a platform for meaningful dialogue and real-world problem-solving. We’re developing roadmaps that help navigate the socio-political climate while advancing health equity for all communities.”
Dr. Joshua Joseph from the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center reflects on the conference’s growth: “Over the past three years, the LEARN’d Conference has evolved into a national hub for collaboration, where we not only identify critical health equity gaps but also share strategies to strengthen communities and improve health outcomes.”
