The CCTS is thrilled to congratulate and welcome William M. Geisler, MD, MPH, professor of Medicine in the UAB Division of Infectious Diseases and co-director of the UAB Medical Scientist Training Program. Dr. Geisler was recently appointed the Director of the UAB Physician Scientist Development Office (PSDO) in the School of Medicine.
In his new role, Dr. Geisler will lead the implementation strategy of the PSDO, including the creation of new programs and learning opportunities for physician scientists, in synergy with the CCTS Training Academy. He will oversee a portfolio of activities and NIH funded efforts that reflects a pipeline of workforce development spanning undergraduate summer research through early career faculty and beyond.
“Will Geisler’s new position will enrich the partnership between the CCTS and the PSDO,” says Dr. Robert Kimberly, CCTS Director. “This relationship will foster a more vibrant research community through the creation and enhancement of resources and trainings to advance the careers of physician scientists at the CCTS Hub (UAB) and across the Partner Network.”
