Adaptive Human Performance Lab Director
Alex Evancho, PT, DPT, is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, pursuing research that aims to improve the lives of individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. Evancho started her career as a neurologic physical therapist at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. She transitioned into geriatric physical therapy at a senior living facility in Atlanta, where she worked as the rehabilitation director for a 500-unit CCRC.
Her interest and passion for research led her back to UAB in 2022, where she joined faculty and is now the director of the Adaptive Human Performance Lab. Alex maintains her clinical practice by working as a PRN PT at Galleria Woods Senior Living. She is additionally pursuing her Ph.D. in rehabilitation science.
