Interdisciplinary Preparation of Professionals in Special Education (IPPSE)
IPPSE is a federal grant that provides tuition and other support to those interested in pursuing careers as special education teachers or school psychometrists. Unique features of IPPSE include an interdisciplinary, context-specific approach to educator preparation, a special focus on technology, and an emphasis on teaching diverse learners with disabilities. The program is designed for part-time study and will be delivered through both online and in-person coursework.
Participation in IPPSE requires admission to the UAB Alternative Master of Arts in Special Education Program with Collaborative Teacher Concentration (for those who do not hold teacher certification in any area and are interested in the special education teacher track), or admission to the UAB Traditional Master of Arts in Special Education Program with Collaborative Teacher Concentration (for those who already hold teacher certification in some area and are interested in the special education teacher track), or admission to the School Psychometry Program (for those interested in School Psychometry). Applications to IPPSE are accepted on an ongoing basis. IPPSE application forms, information regarding the admissions process, and requirements for each program can be found at the links below.
