Digital badges (Canvas Credentials) are now awarded for attending Learning Technologies workshops. Earned badges may be applied to one of the Learning Technologies certificates: the Online Design and Teaching Certificate and Teaching Tools Certificate.
Online Design and Teaching (ODT) Certificate
The ODT certificate is awarded to individuals who have earned 10 digital badges by attending the ODT Series workshops. This series includes the Universal Design for Learning workshops, ODT workshops and the Quality Matters (QM) workshop offerings. Alternatively, you may earn the ODT certificate by completing the Online Design and Teaching Canvas course.
Teaching Tools (TT) Certificate
The TT certificate is awarded to individuals who have earned 10 digital badges by attending the TT Series workshops.
Awarded Digital Badges
To receive a digital badge for workshop attendance, you must be present for at least half of the scheduled time. Once a digital badge has been awarded, individuals receive an email from “University of Alabama at Birmingham Badging [noreply@badgr.com]" congratulating you on your achievement. From the email, you can access your Canvas Credentials account, download your digital badge, and share your digital badge to social media.
Note: Digital badges are not awarded for viewing archived sessions.
Check Your Progress
To check your progress towards earning a Learning Technologies certificate, log in to Canvas Credentials. Once in Canvas Credentials, click on “My Pathway” tab to view progress.

What’s Next?
Check your email: You will receive a confirmation email with event titles, dates, and times. Confirmation emails will come from the Qualtrics survey tool, so please check your spam/quarantine or other folder if you do not see it in your inbox.
Save the event to your calendar: The confirmation email contains a Calendar event for each workshop that you can save to your Outlook calendar. The calendar event contains the Zoom link and a built-in reminder alert 5 minutes before the workshop begins. Click “Add to Calendar” under each event to download the ics file and add to your calendar. View tutorial video to learn how to save the calendar event.
Attend the workshop: At the start time of the scheduled workshop, you can join by clicking the appropriate Zoom link. The Zoom link to the workshop can be found in your confirmation email, saved calendar event, or the OLT Workshop webpage.

UAB eLearning, in collaboration with other units across campus, offers an exciting and informative series of workshops. They provide professional development opportunities, primarily focused on online and hybrid/blended course design and teaching, Universal Design for Learning, and Teaching Tools (academic technologies).
Points are awarded for full attendance of the workshops. Note that "full attendance" is defined as being present in the workshop for at least half of the scheduled time period. Points displayed on the dashboard below are updated at the end of each semester.
