This Wednesday, representatives from nearly 90 companies will be on hand at the Hill Student Center Ballroom for the Fall Engineering Career Fair. The event will be divided into a morning session (9-11:45 a.m.) and an afternoon session (1:15-4 p.m.)

The Engineering Career Fair is the signature recruitment and networking event each fall and spring semester, connecting hiring organizations with engineering student and alumni jobseekers.

“This event is a testament to the importance of relationships in the job search process,” said Neil Adams, director of UAB Engineering Career Services.  “Many organizations are represented by UAB Engineering alumni who enjoy connecting with students about their work, career journey, and opportunities to work alongside them.”

While the event is focused on companies who hire engineers, Adams says UAB students from other disciplines are welcome to attend. UAB engineering alumni may also take advantage of the networking opportunity.

While the event is a convenient way for current students to explore a variety of career opportunities all in one location, Adams says it is often just the first step of a relationship-building process. “The Engineering Career Fair is followed up by on-campus interviews and on-site interviews by employers,” he said. “For example, Southern Company and Honda will be on campus running full-day interview tables with students they met at the career fair.”
