Why Information Engineering Management?
Learn how to translate your technical skills into the language of the company leadership. This is not just about learning new skills and walking away from what you know; it is about translation – showing how what you do adds value to the company’s bottom line.
The Master of Engineering with a focus in Information Engineering Management (IEM) is a five-semester (20 month) online engineering management program designed for working professionals. Classes meet in the evenings, are recorded, and are interactive so that you grow your professional network – a key ingredient to professional growth.
In IEM, we help technology professionals turn their technology expertise into leadership skills.

How is IEM different from other Engineering Management degrees?
Many universities are offering engineering management programs. While MBAs might be much more prevalent, each year, new engineering management programs enter the scene.

Do I have the time to do this? I work full time and have a family.
IEM graduate, David George, explained it best:
"When I first thought about a graduate degree, I was sure it would take too much time. Even though IEM’s degree track offered the flexible time schedule of one weekend a month for 22 months, I had a full-time job and a family to consider. Looking back now as an IEM graduate, I only have one message for anyone considering IEM: You have the time. Even while earning an executive engineering master’s degree from UAB, I never missed an important meeting or family gathering — including my kid’s sports events."

Will this degree provide me with a ROI?
Nobody shows up for graduate education because they have too much time on their hands or too much money in their pocket. When you are looking at a graduate degree, you have some goals in mind. For most, that goal is increasing their income.
So how can a degree increase your income? The truth is, it cannot. The only way to increase your income is to add more value to those you serve. No degree or certificate alone can do that – no matter what they promise.
So the real question is, “How can a degree help you increase your value?” This question is where IEM thrives.
