Professional Service 

Dr. Sisiopiku has provided leadership and service to the engineering discipline through her active engagement in international, national and statewide professional committees; service to
editorial boards; memberships to advisory boards, as well as organizing technical conferences, symposiums, and panel; chairing technical sessions; contributing reviews of technical manuscripts; performing proposal evaluations, and many outreach and training activities. She has a long record of professional service include serving in various roles and many capacities for the Transportation Research Board (TRB) organization, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the Southern District ITE (SDITE) and the Alabama Section ITE (ALSITE). For many years, she has been a passionate advocate of STEM education and Women in Engineering initiatives. She is currently a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Alabama Network for Women Leaders in Higher Education, American Council for Education (ACE), and a former Executive Council Member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Birmingham.

Institutional Service

 
Dr. Sisiopiku has taken leadership roles in numerous service‐related activities for the University of Alabama at Birmingha, the School of Engineering, and the CCEE Department. She participated actively in faculty governance and in the formulation and implementation of institutional policies including initiatives promoting diversity and the advancement of women in engineering disciplines. Examples of her service to UAB include chairing the School of Engineering Academic Affairs; the Equity and Diversity; the UAB AAUW Relations Committee, and the Dupuis Executive Committees and serving as Vice Chair of the UAB Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), and Chair of the CSW Parental Leave Subcommittee.  She also served on the UAB ADVANCE and UAB UTC Advisory Boards; and as Affirmative Action Officer, UAB School of Engineering Equity Advisor and member of the Equity Leadership Council at UAB.  She is a member of the School of Engineering Research Committee, the UAB Sustainability Committee, the UAB Transportation Task force, and the UAB School of Engineering Promotion and Tenure Committee.
