Two construction projects at the corner of University Boulevard and 20th Street South will have long term traffic impacts. The renovation of McCallum Basic Health Science Building and the demolition of the UAB Townhouse are forcing the sidewalks and lanes of traffic to be closed to ensure pedestrian and traffic safety.
Beginning May 28:

- Southbound lane of 20th Street South, between University Boulevard and 7th Avenue South, is closed for the rest of the year to allow pedestrian access on the street.
Beginning June 10:
- On-street parking and the sidewalk on the northbound side of 20th Street South, between University Boulevard and 7th Avenue South, will be closed from June 10 to Aug. 31.
- The westbound lane of University Boulevard between Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard South and 20th Street South will be closed from June 10 to Aug. 31.
• The sidewalk on this block will also be closed during this timeframe. - The westbound lane of University Boulevard between 20th and 19th streets south will be closed through the end of 2019.
• The sidewalk on this block will also be closed during this timeframe. - The alley between UAB Townhouse and the 2020 Building will be closed from June 10 to Aug. 31.
The demolition of UAB Townhouse is expected to be completed by August 2019. The renovation of McCallum Basic Health Science Building is expected to be completed by January 2020.
