Beginning Monday, Nov. 18, construction will close portions of 10th Avenue South, between 14th and 17th streets south as part of utility work by Alabama Power Co.
Construction will occur in three phases:
- Phase 1: Construction on 10th Avenue South, from 14th to 16th streets south, is expected to be completed within two weeks.
- Phase 2: The 10th Avenue South and 16th Street South intersection will be closed following the completion of Phase 1. It is expected to be complete within a week.
- Phase 3: Also beginning Nov. 18, 10th Avenue South, from 16th to 17th streets south, will be closed to traffic until the end of December.
Additionally, parking will be affected in the following ways:
- Lot 7C / Handicap Parking: Access to the handicap parking lot and drop off area, on 16th Street South, between Camp Hall and Blazer Hall, will be accessible to traffic traveling south on 16th Street South. Traffic exiting this lot will need to turn left and travel north on 16th Street South, toward University Boulevard, during Phase 2 construction.
- 6th Street Parking Deck (Zone A): Entry will be accessible to traffic traveling north on 16th Street South, before the intersection.
Note the closures in the surrounding areas:
- 7th Street South, between 9th and 10th avenues south
- 9th Avenue South, between 17th and 18th street south
Detour routes and traffic instructions will be posted at the construction sites. Please be aware of the impacted areas and plan accordingly.
