Developing Data Management plans for grant applications

Many federal agencies require funding applicants to include a Data Management Plan in the application. This section provides some resources that will help in meeting this requirement.

DMPTool

The DMPTool (developed by the University of California System) provides templates that can be used in developing Data Management Plans that meet the requirements for grant applications sent to U.S. federal funding agencies. A UAB-branded version of the DMPTool is available. Click on the button below, click on Get Started, scroll down to University of Alabama at Birmingham, and log in with your BlazerID.

NIH has had a data sharing requirement in place for large grants since 2003. Those requirements will now be extended to all NIH applications. The following examples (from 2003) provide some guidance for what the new requirements will look like.
