To jump start the 2017-2018 school year, the Graduate Biomedical Sciences (GBS) Program held the annual Graduate Student Research Symposium at the Hill Center on Friday, August 4th. This event was hosted by (GBS) in collaboration with Graduate Biomedical Student Outreach (GBSO) and UAB Graduate School.

Have you heard the news? The University of Alabama at Birmingham will participate for the second time in the Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT®). If you're interested in participating or learning more about the competition, you are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 30 from 2 to 3 p.m. in Shelby Building Room 105.

The Office of the Provost hosted its 2017 UAB Honors Convocation Thursday, March 30 at the Alys Stephens Center. Nearly 200 students received national or school level awards, including 97 graduate students. The Graduate School would like to congratulate all the 2017 award recipients! But it doesn't have to be a confusing or mysterious process. That's why members of the UAB Graduate School and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) staff are here to offer tips for effective and efficient preparation and submission.

The UAB Graduate School launched its community educational outreach program Discoveries in the Making in February 2016. We've been impressed all year with the research our graduate students are doing as well as the creative and interesting ways they find to present their work to the public - and we want to add more students to the Discoveries program this fall!
