Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Executive Director of Administration & Finance will oversee financial, administrative, and personnel operations for the Provost’s units and related academic entities (e.g., Graduate School, Libraries, Honors College). This strategic leader will be responsible for managing all Provost funds and budgets, ensuring compliance with administrative and personnel policies, and serving as a liaison between Provost units and Central Administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial and administrative management of Provost units and related academic divisions, including budget analysis, financial modeling, contract reviews, and space/facilities oversight.
- Oversee compliance with personnel policies and administrative procedures within the Provost's office and across affiliated academic schools/units.
- Review and approve HR personnel actions within the Provost’s office and assist in staffing decisions for academic schools through the Provost Bridge.
- Assess and refine fiscal and administrative policies, collaborating with university leadership to optimize processes and compliance.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Provost’s Office and Central Administration, representing the Provost in financial and administrative discussions, including University Compliance Committees.
- Supervise and lead a team of one to three direct reports while managing funds with budgetary and signatory authority.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the financial and administrative goals of the university.
This position requires residency in the state of Alabama and is hybrid-eligible after the probationary period.
