Start RateEffective 10/01/2024, the start rate for PS107N1 Police Officer is $24.00 per hour.
Shift DifferentialEffective 01/02/2022, the campus shift differential for Sworn Police Officers is $0.75 evening / $0.75 night. For more information on shift differentials, please see HR Policy 204 in the UAB Policies and Procedures Library.

Experience credit is the combination of related work experience and related education credit. Experience credit calculated for jobs in the Police Hiring Grid are capped at the hiring grid max.
Work Experience
All sworn officer work experience will be counted 1 to 1 in years of service, rounded to the nearest month. All other work experience will not be included in new hire pay decisions.
Education
Education credit is added together with work credit to assess new hire, promotional and rehire base pay rate decisions according to the hiring grid. Only degrees attained will be considered. This guideline does not imply entitlement to a pay increase for a current employee after attaining a higher level of education.
