- Employees eligible for FMLA benefits may take up to 12 work weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) in a rolling 12-month period for medical and family related reasons.
- Employees not eligible for FMLA benefits will:
- Need supervisory approval before being placed on leave; exceptions may apply for medical related conditions
- Need to submit the online leave request for family illness leave

- Medical related leaves will be approved only for the length of time your health-care provider certifies.
- Employee must use accrued benefit time before moving to unpaid status for medical leave.
- Family illness leave may be taken as continuous or intermittent/reduced schedule.

Leave of Absence Process for Medical Conditions
When requesting leave online, employees should select the medical leave that matches their medical condition (even if the employee is not eligible for FMLA). Employees taking leave for a serious health condition will be required to obtain a return to work form from their health care provider prior to returning to work.
