UAB IT is launching a new feature to help better secure documents stored in Box. Beginning April 12, you will be able to label documents and folders in Box based on data classification (Public, Sensitive or Restricted/PHI).
Labeling by data classification not only supports compliance efforts on behalf of the University, it will also play a role in emerging business needs, such as AI.
“Labeling files and folders by data classification may be especially helpful for those in finance or research roles at UAB,” said Cindy Jones, executive director for information security. “Knowing the type of data you are working with is essential to keeping it secure.”

Keep in mind, if you wish to store Restricted/PHI data in Box, you must submit a risk assessment form.
