As part of ongoing security enhancements for UAB email, UAB IT is deploying a Microsoft tool that scans links in email messages to seek malicious URLs.

Because of ongoing phishing attacks, Microsoft Safe Links has been deployed for campus faculty, staff and students.

You will see a change in the way links are displayed in your email and other Microsoft 365 apps, such as Teams and Word. Hyperlinks will be slightly longer when you hover over a link, and clicking the link will take you to https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com before immediately redirecting you to the actual URL.

If the URL has been scanned and has been determined to be safe, then you will be redirected to the original URL. However, if the link is scanned and found to be malicious, you will see an error/warning page that indicates the website you were attempting to visit is considered malicious.
