UAB IT won three awards in the national SIGUCCS IT Communications Awards, for work that focused on social media, web site design and marketing campaigns. 

UAB IT’s communications team focuses on marketing IT’s services as well as security awareness, events, social media, and also assists with app design and other projects. 

For 2023, UAB IT won awards for: 

• Social media, for UAB IT’s Giphy account, which has nearly 320 million views. In the past year, UAB IT has added gifs focused on security awareness. 

• Web site design, for the UAB IT web site, which also links to the IT Service Portal. 
• General services campaign, for a series of stories, graphics and social media posts on information security that were tied to The World Games 2022, since “information is a team sport.” 

The SIGUCCS communications awards awards are specifically created for communication departments in higher education and recognize outstanding publications. When presented, they allows other participants to review and inspire their teams to enhance their own work.  

Since 2018, the team has brought home 12 awards for promotional videos, reference guides, social media, and web design.
