UAB IT’s Application and Consulting Services aided the Heersink School of Medicine’s Pediatric department by collaborating on a new application for the department to help further careers.

The new application will help aid conversations in the pediatric unit about faculty career development and goal setting, and will have the ability to keep track of the annual review process. The new system will also automatically update employee demographic information.

“Our biggest challenge was understanding role management and access with employees that span both UAB campus and school of medicine faculty” said Kimberly Aaron, a systems analyst with ACS, “as well as working within a very tight development timeline.”

The project began in the first quarter of 2022 and officially went live in January 2023. The new application hosts a modernized interface for faculty that will help save time and improve performances during evaluation periods.

“ACS was very responsive to our need for modifications and changes in a timely manner,” said Dr. Mitchell Cohen, professor of pediatrics.
