In January, UAB began relaxing COVID-related international travel restrictions for UAB employees. To travel, employees must fill out multiple forms. A new dashboard was created at the beginning of the year, and now there is an application to help cut down on delays in travel.
"As the first step in the international travel registration process, UAB requires that each international traveler submit a fully executed UAB Essential Travel Form and a UAB COVID-19 Assumption of Risk Form to the UAB International Travel Review Committee,” said Eric Kirkpatrick, a systems analyst for UAB IT.
The review app created by Kirkpatrick and his team replaces the back-and-forth emails between the traveler and committee members that are part of the approval process. Earlier in the year, the team created a dashboard to help keep track of the status of forms. This allowed the International Travel Committee to leave notes on missing items from forms and for travelers to attach extra documents.
