Nearly 500 help phones installed across campus offer a direct link to UAB Policy and Public Safety. Many of those phones have received —or will receive —a facelift in recent months as UAB IT expanded its regular inspections and repairs of the phones to include physical condition.
“Phone enclosures that were identified with peeling graphics, graffiti or other visual defects were treated to a new wrap,” said Chuck White, interim executive director for network services.
Phase 1 of the project, covering the areas between the Campus Green and the soccer fields, was completed in time for The World Games 2022.
“We wanted to make sure students, staff and visitors could see well-maintained emergency phones,” White said.
