UAB IT hosted Google executive leaders and AI experts for a series of meetings Tuesday, July 25, on artificial intelligence and its potential for academics, research and medicine. Watch the video here.
Meetings were held at the Heritage Hall room 104 and online via Zoom.
Use cases, demos, and technological capabilities were covered. The sessions were intended to be very interactive, and attendee input was encouraged.
Sessions included:
- Focus group on academics, 9 to 9:50 a.m. — addressed how AI can impact student success, revenue growth, and productivity.
- Focus group on research, 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. — addressed how AI can accelerate research, allow researchers to ask new questions, and enhance research administration operations.
- Focus group on medicine, 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. — addressed how AI can impact connected patient care, precision medicine and foster the next generation of medical trailblazers.
UAB IT hosted meetings in May with Microsoft experts, who also discussed new tools and capabilities for generative AI.
Future on-campus visits regarding AI will include Salesforce, Amazon and Oracle.
